![]() Every run is procedurally generated, and you’ll carve a path from entrance to boss fight by battling through a series of rooms, each containing a new boon. Each has a different aesthetic and enemy types, as well as varying pitfalls. ![]() There are three temples to choose from from which decide your path: Eagle, Serpent and Jaguar. Your task is to guide him through deadly traps and desperate fights, unlocking new skills and items as you go.Īs it’s a roguelike, you’ll spend a lot of time dying, which will spirit you back to the entrance to the temples. Stumbling into an ancient jungle tomb, our hero finds himself stuck traversing three temples filled with undead horrors and presided over by tribal gods called Champions. So spare a thought for Caradog McCallister, grizzled protagonist of Passtech’s Curse of the Dead Gods, who is locked in a perpetual nightmare of violence, traps, and lots and lots of curses. Entropy is generally considered a bad thing for a reason, and barrelling headlong from one hex to another is going to do you a mischief. It feels like a sandbox with no sand.Ideally, you want to avoid curses, not just in video games but in all walks of life. ![]() ![]() It doesn't fundamentally change the way you play the game, just adjusts the overall skill level via stat checks The ability to gain buffs before going into a run takes away from it being a rogue-like and makes it into a pity system. It is just a slow burn with nothing driving you forward. Id like to enjoy this game, the game-play concepts were intriguing but effectively its punishing, and not the souls-like punishing where you have fun in spite of the set backs and struggle. your money to enjoyment ratio is more effective elsewhere for the genre/s this game covers.Īs for personal quarrels with the game itself i.e You love this game or hate it.īut Id suggest your money elsewhere, Hollow knight, Hades, Slay the spire Inscryption etc. Too many reviews are either 5 hours or 200 hours. but I also advise people to look at the positive reviews and how little total hours the person gained, especially after posting the review. I've played lots of games over the years, and typically I would suggest ignoring the reviews with little hours behind them, mine included. On paper this game sounded interesting but the execution is dreadful, ![]()
